Who Will Show Up Tonight?

It's hard to be optimistic after watching the Wings play the last two games, but as true Wings fans we need to stop complaining and tune in. There is no doubt in my mind that they can't turn things around, they have the talent, its just finding the right combinations to go along with smart play.

They beat this St. Louis last week and can do it again tonight, even if the bitter blues fans think that the refs gave Detroit the game, which I have never seen them do in my lifetime as a Wings fan.

Will that team show up tonight?

People can hate on Franzen all they want, but hes been drastically better the last few games. He seems to be hungry, and has been playing with more passion, digging in the corners and crashing the net. The bottom 6 needs to be chipping in more, some of that has to do with Helm being out, but my main concern is Dan Cleary. I like the guy, but hes not the 2008 version anymore. He just seems to be a seat filler at this point. Why not sit Cleary for a few games and bring up Nyquist to play on a 3rd line along with Tatar and Emmerton. That gives you three skill lines and a 4th that can crash and bang.

Have I mentioned how much I like Tootoo? From the day he signed his deal I said he would be a fan favorite, and that he was something this team needed while most cried about it. This guy has heart and fists. His fight against Calgary didn't give the team a boost, but I hope he doesn't give up. The only thing I want more than a win tonight is for Tootoo to light up David Backes.

While still unconfirmed, there is a rumor that Mrazek might be getting the start tonight. This kid is our future in net, and has boat loads of talent. If you haven't heard of him take a look at what The Hockey News has to say. EDIT: Mrazek is in net tonight.

Scouting Report
Assets: Cool as a cucumber under intense pressure, he seems to thrive with the game on the line. Is capable of making incredible saves when down and out, and never quits on a play.
Flaws: Doesn't have ideal size for the goaltending position at the National Hockey League level (6-0, 162 pounds), and will need to bulk up in order to maximize his puck-stopping ability.
Career Potential: Talented goaltender with good upside.

The Red Wings website has him listed at 6'1" 184 lbs, so those flaws may not exist, and based on how well hes played in GR im betting they don't.
