20 minutes of effort wasn’t enough for the Red Wings tonight. This game reminded me of opening night when the Wings showed no interest in being there. This wasn’t a case of being out of gas. The legs were there, but the smart plays and hustle were not.
More after the jump:
Passing tonight was pure garbage. Few passes were tape to tape. Most were into traffic and intercepted. Same with shots. When the Red Wings were able to generate pressure, they just blasted the puck into some guys shin guards and it was over.
Smith is hurt and it looked bad based on his reaction after trying to clear the puck.
At least Brunner’s point streak is still alive. That’s something, right?
I really don’t want to go off on a rant because this same exact team made me so happy last night, so I’ll just leave it at this: The Wings played bad and did not win. It happens. Next game is Tuesday night against the Flames. Hudler will be in town and I bet he’ll get a career high in shot attempts. Because he hates me.
