Today is one of THOSE days. You know the ones I mean. For the thousandth time, we're saying today is a "must win". Instead of being upset or working myself into a nervous mess, I decided to look back a bit. I'm tired of the normal banter. I miss someone who won't be playing today. Hit the jump for a few thoughts…
First off, shooutouts are a part of the game. Why continue to complain about them? Stop wasting your and MY time with complaining about them. Okay? Okay. Now that we have that out of the way, let's look at our record in the SO this year vs last year.
That's pretty miserable. You know who we miss? Except for Datsyuk scoring goals in the shootout, we're really missing our oldest team member: Todd Bertuzzi.
I don't know if he'll play again this season, but it's clear he's missed. We've not found someone to truly replace him in the top 6. It's also clear we haven't found someone as creative with soft hands for the shootout. Brunner is good, but he's not got enough experience yet. The same could be said for Nyquist. For all the haters out there, I give you today's movie poster.
A player doesn't play 1100 games without making a few haters… Miss ya Bert. LGRW… put down the Flames!
