With regulars Nick Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk and Jonathan Ericsson out of the lineup, Detroit’s other stars and youngsters will get the chance to shine.

Brendan Smith will play in his 2nd game after being recalled again. Smith played a great game Tuesday in Columbus, and will look to build on the confidence he has earned all while hoping to steal the 6th D spot away from Jakub Kindl.

Jimmy Howard will get the start, and even though he has lost his last 3 games it wasn’t for lack of trying.

Look for Babs to juggle the lines tonight looking for the right combinations. Specifically for Franzen and Bertuzzi who are without their regular center piece Datsyuk.

This team has played well of late when they have their foot on the gas. Their losses are a direct result of taking shifts off and letting the opponent capitalize on their mistakes.
