Jimmy Howard’s back, yay!
Wait, Datsyuk out for two weeks? I’ll take a Jamison. No, not a shot, the whole damn bottle.
Hit the jump for the soul crippling details:
Pavel Datsyuk is expected to miss two weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery today to remove some old fragments.
“Everything is real good,” coach Mike Babcock said. “(Datsyuk) had fragment in his knee, an old thing we wanted to clear up prior to playoff time.”
Babcock said the timing gives the club an opportunity to have Datsyuk back at 100% the playoffs.
Well that’s good. I suppose that is. Still, this is just a huge kick in the nuts and out of nowhere too:
“He said yesterday he could feel something not right in his knee,” Holland said. “They took an MRI, saw a fragment. They went in today, surgery is over. It was minor arthroscopic surgery. Cleaned up his ligament and he should be ready to go in a couple of weeks.”
It’s going to be tough to keep up this incredible streak without the best player in the league. But I guess we’ll see what the team has deep down inside, starting with tonight’s game.
By the way, the other good news is that Dan Cleary is back tonight.
