Still don’t think Detroit is the measuring stick for the rest of the league? Observe….
December 31st – Dwayne Roloson leads the New York Islanders to a 4-3 OT victory over Detroit
January 1st – Steve Yzerman trades Ty Wishart from the Bolts to the Isles in exchange for Roloson.
Stevie Y sees Rolly beat his former team and decides to make a change.
February 17th – Detroit tunes up the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2
February 18th – Tampa Bay trades Brock Beukeboom and a third-round pick at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft for Eric Brewer
Stevie Y gets his hand slapped by his former team and decides that he needs to make another change.
February 26th – Detroit squeaks by the Buffalo Sabres in a 3-2 OT victory,
February 27th – Buffalo trades a second-round pick at the 2011 Entry Draft to St. Louis for Brad Boyes.
That’s three examples of teams making moves the day after one of the teams involved plays Detroit – yeah, I’d say Detroit is helping teams learn some valuable lessons about themselves and where they stand against the most successful franchise over the past two decades.
Oh and St Louis has completely given up on this season – fine by me.
