Jan Mursak has received a two-year contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings. Mursak, the 23 year old from Slovenia played in 17 games with the big club this season. He was -3 and only had one goal but the feisty forward impressed the front office and the fans with his hard-nosed play and ability to grind.
Mursak was Detroit’s sixth round pick in 2006. The financials weren’t disclosed just yet – but I’m sure it’s something incredibly reasonable. There is a catch, though. Mursak has now completely run out of minor league options. This deal is exactly like the extension we gave to Jakub Kindl last year. Next year, Mursak will have to make the big squad or pass through waivers.
No pressure just yet….but we’ll see what happens.
