Anybody feeling nostalgic? Beating Anaheim always makes me happy. Here’s a clip – not of last night’s game – but one where I sat in the 8th row behind Jonas Hiller (for the 1st and 3rd)…and it might be the loudest I ever heard the Joe (aside from when Stone Cold Steve Austin rammed the zamboni into the ring…but that’s another story)…
Sorry about the quality…but I still think it captures the spirit of the thing.
So we squeaked by last night, as Ryan pointed out – by only playing 40 minutes. But a win is a win. And since we pulled it off, I think we should bring back an old tradition of peruzzing enemy blogs for comments before/during/and after last night’s game.
Anaheim is always a tricky one to do…since there aren’t many choices in terms of quality blogs. But I did end up finding one eventually.
Make the jump to see what I found.
We head on over to Anaheim Calling for today’s losing comments:
Jimmy Howard is 4-0-1 in his last five versus the Ducks. OT loss was the Bobby penalty shot winner. A great memory of last season.
So your great memory was a BLOWN call to get you your ONLY win against Detroit?
The arm bone is connected to the leg bones – according to Bobby Ryan. I remember screaming at the TV over that one. But thanks to JuMowbray for reminding me that we went 4-0-1 with Jimmy in net last year against the Ducks.
How about some reactions to Zetteberg’s goal early on in the game?
Wow, are you kidding me. Softie.

That’s a perfect shot from point blank
Can’t blame Hiller for that

Well this game is over…

Ah…it warms the heart, doesn’t it? Too bad their team didn’t give up as easy as this fan.
And if you’re a Getzlaf anti-fan…as I am…you’re going to love this collection:
I’m sick of getzlaf..

I’ve said it before: Carlyle needs to strip his C to send the message. He doesn’t get it. Every game he comes out slow and makes these lazy passes that he thinks are nifty. He doesn’t lead by example.
And look, he has 1 star on the 3 Star Leaderboard, so I think a lot of other Ducks fans share your sentiment…
by JuMowbray on Nov 20, 2011 6:11 PM PST
He just looks so lackadaisacal on the ice
by PhantomPretender on Nov 20, 2011 6:15 PM PST
Yeah, he really does. It’s so disheartening watching him nowadays. I remember the good old days where he would go beast-mode in the playoffs against really good teams.
by JuMowbray on Nov 20, 2011 6:20 PM PST
He was so freaking awesome in the 2009 playoffs..
by Dixie Normus on Nov 20, 2011 6:22 PM PST
Sadly now that he has no hair he thinks that he’s 40 years old.
by dkk on Nov 20, 2011 6:23 PM PST
Good stuff, eh? We can talk trash about the guy all day long – but what’s better than seeing his own fans do it? They even started making it personal! I, for one, don’t make cracks at people for pre-mature baldness….but only because I’m scared as sh*t of karma.
Let’s go ahead and fast forward to the end of the game to get some wonderful post-game thoughts from this bunch.
If you can’t maintain possession of the puck, don’t pull the f**king goalie.
by PhantomPretender on Nov 20, 2011 7:54 PM PST
Don’t expect Carlyle to know that
by Dixie Normus on Nov 20, 2011 7:55 PM PST
F**king Ducks getting me excited for disappointment again

[Generic taking positives out of a loss comment]
by JuMowbray on Nov 20, 2011 7:56 PM PST
This team pisses me off like no other, the talent is there but no consistency, we’re really missing that number 1 d-man presence this year.

And then they went on to recall fond memories of Chris Pronger and blah blah blah. Oh, and they already started discussing the acquisition of their lottery for #1 draft pick next season. Yikes – I realize they’re only 20 games into the season…so I figured that was a bit extreme. That is, until I looked at their record. 6-10-4 through the first 20 games…a whole three wins ahead of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Seems like some fans are already jumping off of the ship. Well…what do you expect from hockey fans in Southern California? (No offense to the Wings transplants therein.)
Ain’t it fun to kick ’em when they’re down?
No…seriously…I’m asking. Is there still room on this site for this segment? Let me know in the comment section if you bothered reading all of this. This was something I started doing a long time ago and I want to make sure that you, the readers, would like it to stay or go the way of the dodo.
