Pretty cool news. Per Mlive and Khan(!):
The Detroit Red Wings are in deep discussions with the NHL about hosting an outdoor game within the next two seasons. MLive.com has learned the Red Wings expect to host the annual Winter Classic either next season or in 2013-14.
That would be pretty awesome if you ask me. Detroit and New York are the two cities who will be vying for the Classic the next two season.
Make the jump for some more on the possible Classic.
Now the question is where:
The Red Wings would prefer to have the game at Comerica Park, home of the Tigers, also owned by Mike Ilitch. But it might take place at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor due to its huge capacity.
The stadium hosted the “Big Chill at the Big House” on Dec. 11, 2010, attracting a world record announced crowd of 113,411 in the game between Michigan and Michigan State.
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather it be at the Big House than Comerica. Comercia would be great, but getting a ticket would be almost impossible. I know tickets at Wrigley were going for a minimum of $350 bucks a pop. Depending on where my law career is at that point, that’s a lot of money.
What do you guys think? Would you rather have it at Comerica or in Ann Arbor? Who would you like to see Detroit play? And what is the max amount would you pay for the tickets?
