Eaves Out, Mursak In

“He’s so-so.  We’re not going to take him to Buffalo. He’s so stiff he couldn’t move. (He’s) out a minimum of a week.  If he feels great on Tuesday, we’ll wheel him out (to West Coast).  He’s sore through the groin and lot of parts of the lower body. He’s moving very slowly.” –Ken Holland

That’s Kenny “Tick Tock” Holland talking about Patrick Eaves who left Tuesday’s game against the Sharks.  Eaves will be missed – he was extremely important stepping up his game when the Red Wings were missing Datsyuk and Cleary.

In other news, Filppula participated in his first full practice, according to the Royal Oak Tribune:

“It felt pretty good so I’m hopeful for Saturday.  I did more battles and one-on-one stuff to make sure that it’s getting in the right direction.” –Valtteri Filppula

So even though he’s close, he isn’t ready to return to the lineup tonight.  Therefore, the newly re-signed Jan Mursak has been recalled from Grand Rapids to play against the Stars tonight.  Brad Stuart missed practice yesterday, but should be able to go tonight.

The Stars have sucked lately.  They lost Brad Richards to a concussion and they traded away James Neal to Pittsburgh.  There goes two of their top five scorers.  They’ve lost five in a row including 1-0 to the surging New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.  So you know…of course…expect them to come out swinging.  There was a time when Dallas was a sure-thing for two points at Joe Louis Arena…but Marty Turco signed with Chicago and hardly leaves the bench…but at least he makes that entertaining:

But enough about Marty Turco – let’s get after Steve Ott and screw tonight…I hate that bastard.
