Wings 5 Sens 3

So as you all probably already know…our Wings were more than happy to play spoiler to Paul “I wanna be like Todd McLellan” MacLean’s debut as head coach.

Rookie, Corey Emmerton lead the way (believe it or not) with a goal and an assist.  Drew Miller had two assists himself and we got goals from Bertuzzi (off a feed from the Namesake), Lidstrom (shocking), Ian White (welcome), and you guessed it…

Happy Hudler.

So, one down…eighty one games to go.  And if we keep this pace, we won’t lose all season.  Jim Howard turned in a pretty solid performance stopping 29 of 32 shots.  So, I’m not going to harp too much on the Fernando Rodney-esque scare at the close of the game.  The Wings got it done, and that’s all that matters.

And looky here…not one minus player on the Detroit roster.  Leading in that department – Jonny Ericsson and Jakub Kindl with a +3…nice job, boys.

lokomotivpatchAnd I’d like to quote this from the Chicago Tribune…(the Blackhawks are losing to Dallas as I post this):

There was a tribute to former Detroit assistant coach and player Brad McCrimmon, former Red Wings defenseman Ruslan Salei and former Detroit goalie prospect Stefan Liv before the game. They died in the Russian plane crash that wiped out the Locomotiv Yaroslavl team in early September. McCrimmon’s wife, daughter and son were presented Red Wings “McCrimmon 2” jerseys and flowers by Lidstrom, Henrik Zetterberg and Datsyuk. The team will wear a patch with their initials throughout the season.

Tell me that didn’t bring a tear to your eye.

Detroit Red Wings, winning with class since…since…well, basically forever.
