The Wings saw the return of several things last night…
- Pavel Datsyuk – who hasn’t lost one step from his 6 and 1/2 week leave, who scored a goal, added an assist, and – surprise, surprise – had several key steals
- Jimmy Howard’s confidence – now, I’m not saying that I beleive those idiots who said that Jimmy’s “pumpkin” was messed up because of the Nabby thing…I think that’s crap. But there was a certain vibe I was getting from Howie that was different from last year. Last night, he looked like the Jimmy we saw in the 2010 push to the post season – 47 shots faced, only two goals allowed.
- Jakub Kindl – the old Jakub Kindl…the turnover machine…the frustration factory. Kindl had an absolutely horrible game last night, turning the puck over at least half a dozen times. His play had been improving, but last night he looked like that kid that was just simply not ready for the big times…yet.
I’m worried about Filppula who took a hit early in the third in which his knee contorted in that oh-so-scary way,
“A little bump on his knee. They’re going to check him (Tuesday) and see where he’s at.” –Mike Babcock
That quote provided by Khan(!)…damn you, Brandon Dubinsky. We took out our frustration on Sean Avery’s face – who took two high sticks in less than two minutes…Abdelkader took the “sloppy second” one.
Oh and Hank is the king of the five on three….
…remember this? Rosby would have you believe that anyone would have made that play…he’d probably tell you that anyone could have outworked three Rangers and kill off 30 seconds of a two man advantage while working the puck in the offensive zone. But what does Crysob know about the PK? He doesn’t even play on it.
Good win last night, boys. We needed that.
