Yearly Checkup – Ex-Wings Part 1

No I’m not going to do this every year, just thought of it today and figured it’d be a good article.  The Wings have had some casualities from Gary’s cap.  We know how some of the ex-Wings are doing (see Leino) but how about the others?

There will be no order to this.

Former Wing #1 – Brett Lebda – Toronto Maple Leafs

Grade:  Awesomely bad.

Stat Line: 10 GP 0 G 0 A 0 PTS -9 +/-.

Better or worse than we expected?  On the ice he’s doing even worse than even I would have thought.  But off the ice, he’s started the #likealebda twitter meme. So he’s actually brought something to the table, which is more than we can say for his time in Detroit.

Opposition View (From PPP)I think the only way Lebda could win our support at this point is to jump off the bench with a lasso à la Mighty Ducks 2 and hogtie Marty Brodeur.

Former Wing #2 – Andreas Lilja – San Jose Sharks

Grade:  Incredibly mundane.  Might now be working at Pepboys.

Stat Line: 16 GP 0 G 2 A 2 PTS -4 +/-.

Better or worse than we expected him to be?  Maybe slightly worse.  Doesn’t seem to be getting a lot of playing time but people seem ok with what he’s done with it.  I’ve read “stilja no lilja” a few times at the BofC

Opposition View (from BofC.): (Earl Sleek referring to Lilja and the other two below) these guys will get your team running smoothly again.

Former Wing #3 – Mattias Ritola – Tampa Bay

Grade:  Meaner than I thought.  1000000% more suspensions earned already than with his time with the Wings.  Minus 5 is ugly on a good team.

Stat Line: 12 GP 1 G 1 A 2 PTS -5 +/-.

Better or worse than we expected him to be?  I’d say worse.  I thought he’d at least be an even player you could count on not to get suspensions, but probably is hanging around Steve Downie too much.  People don’t seem to give two sh!ts about him.

Opposition View (from  This poll says it all.

Former Wing #4 – Jason Williams – Free Agent
