The Roster (for now)

With Abdelkader finally getting signed, we have our roster filled out for the 2010-2011 season.  Unfortunately…we over-filled it:

Here’s what the lines are slated to be:

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom
Franzen-Filppula-Bertuzzi
Hudler-Modano-Cleary
Eaves-Abelkader-Helm

Lidstrom-Rafalski
Kronwall-Stuart
Ericsson-Salei

Howard
Osgood

So as expected…here are the people that don’t have a spot right now and are under contract:

  • Kris Draper ($1,583,333)
  • Drew Miller ($650,000)
  • Mattias Ritola ($516,667)
  • Jakub Kindl ($883,333)
  • Derek Meech ($500,000)

That’s $4.40333 (repeating of course) million in salary that we would have in the press box – which would be bad – if it was all in one contract such as Michael Nylander in Washington.

Someone has to go…and we all know it isn’t going to be Kris Draper.  So shall we resume the discussion on what we’re going to do?

Here’s what I think is going to happen:

  1. Meech will be traded
  2. Ritola will be waived

That frees up 1.383,333 in Cap space.  Which gets us over the mark with Draper, Miller, and Kindl in the press box on reserve.

Sound good?
