Filppula’s Groin Boosts Finns

For some reason, it always seems that Valtteri Filppula’s quotes can be interpreted as sexual if put in the right context…much to the delight of our female readership as well as a few secret man-crushes out there.  Here’s one from the Free Press:

“I had a couple of good practices that I couldn’t feel the groin at all, so I was pretty hopeful.  Obviously, games are always a different thing. At least today, it was really good.”– Val Filppula

Well, we don’t want you to be out there “feeling your groin” during a game anyway, Wally.

“Reg, Reg, that reminds me. I was coachin’ in Omaha in 1948 and Eddie Shore sends me this guy…”— you know the rest.

Regardless, it was nice to see our Wings are out there closing games (they’ll need to continue that when they get back to playing NHL hockey).  Wally scored 23 seconds into the third period against Belarus on Wednesday and Raffy popped in two third period goals yesterday in the US’s triumph over OKT and the rest of the Norwegians.

Not sure what’s going on with the Swedes, or why Datsyuk is playing less than 15 minutes in a 65 minute game…but I’m not worried…yet.

Individual Red Wings are doing well and staying healthy, and Team USA is winning, what more could I ask for?
