As D.M.N. stated (via Murphy last season) Last night was “one of those games you crumple up and throw away”.
Look on the bright side, the closest team to us in the West is still three points back AND we have a game in hand. However, the best way to lose your footing in the standings – especially in the Bestern Conference – is going sideways for a stretch where you might lose three and then win two and then lose one and then win one and yadda yadda yadda. The Wings need to get on another run. They have some pivotal games coming up, including two Central Division games followed by two games against division leaders:
- Wednesday – St. Louis @ the Joe
- Friday – @ Chicago
- Sunday – Dallas @ the Joe
- Wednesday – Vancouver @ the Joe
I had already discussed the importance of the next five games before that stinker last night. But now that we got blanked last night, the next four become even more important. I’d be happy with six out of a possible eight points still up for grabs before we visit St. Louis on the 23rd.
So let’s stop this win a couple, lose a couple crap and string together some wins.
