Well…they took the boot off of Cleary’s foot last night and the news is not good.
That slapshot that Danny took off the foot has fractured his ankle, and he will be out at least a month. Detroit, who is already missing their leading point-getter, will now be missing their leading goal scorer as well. Kronwall had this to say to Khan(!) about losing Cleary:
“He’s been one of our most important guys so far, with his work ethic and just his presence out there and in the locker room. He’s one of our leaders. Obviously, it’s tough to lose him.”— Niklas Kronwall
The Wings have recalled Jan Mursak from Grand Rapids – he will make his NHL debut tonight against Denver.
Mursak has 23 points (10 goals) in 33 games with the Griffs this year. Just as a refresh, Mursak is a 5’11, 192 lbs Slovenian who is in his third season within Detroit’s system. The twenty two year old right winger is on pace to destroy his career best 42 points that he posted last year.
Denver has lost their last two games so look for them to be hungry tonight. Babcock didn’t tip his hand on which goalie will start tonight – but as the injuries mount, each win is getting harder and harder. Ozzie is still seeking win number 400, but Howard would probably still be ready to go as he only faced 17 shots last night.
No more injuries, please.
