Dean and Jake Chelios were on opposite teams during the Red Wings development camp that ended Tuesday. But they’ll be playing together for the first time since they were kids next season at Michigan State.
19 year old Jake decided to attend Michigan State alongside older brother Dean (21) for the upcoming season. He had also considered playing for Patrick Eaves’s father at Wisconsin, but ended up preferring to make it a family affair.
“In the end, what put (MSU) over was having family there. Makes it easy to have my parents watch us both.”
Big brother Dean doesn’t seem to mind having his baby bro tag along:
“It’ll be fun hanging out all the time during the year. We haven’t been able to do that either because hockey has been taking us different places every year, traveling in different places.”
Jake had 12 goals and 22 assists in 52 games last season for the USHL’s Chicago Steel. Dean had four goals and six assists in 35 games in his freshman year for the Spartans.
