…that’s the amount of food that the folks out in Kelowna donated at the first open practice that the Red Wings held at Prospera Place, according to detroitredwings.com.
Admission was by donation to the Kelowna Community Food Bank and fans came through with a massive donation, dropping off 11,200 pounds of food valued at over $25,000. There was an additional $1,500 in cash donations accepted by the food bank.
This news coming just one day short of a week before H2H, where the internet fanbase of Detroit is making one little Brazillian kid’s dream come true, while helping out the Detroit Children’s hospital along the way. Once again, even in Western Canada, Red Wings fans are proving they are first class all the way.
“It was an amazing turnout by our fans. They were lined up early this morning to get into the building.”–Gavin Hamilton, Kelowna Rockets vice president of business development
