Found this little ditty from Metro International talking about yesterday’s 3-1 win over the New York Rangers. We get to hear what some of the Rangers have to say about our Red Wings.
“I had a little bit of room and it caught the toe of his skate. It was a good save by him.”–Ryan Callahan on his penalty shot that was stopped by Howie. This really could have decided the outcome of this game.
“Holmstrom, you have to be very careful of. You want to clear him out but you don’t want to have a two-man screen in front of Hank. You have to be very careful when you go to him. He wants people to come to him because the goalie can’t see the puck.”–John Tortorella just hours before the game was played. Holmstrom, of course, did exactly this. Drawing a couple penalties (one for, one against) and was instrumental in Datsyuk’s goal to tie the game at 1-1.
Here’s what King Henrik (Lundqvist) said of Holmstrom…
“That’s part of the game, having guys in front of you. You just try to be active and try to find the puck all the time. It’s tough when you have a guy who moves with the puck and tries to be in your face. He’s good at that.”
