Via the Vancouver Sun, apparently Bobby Lou is just dying to get back into a game, but won’t start tonight.
The Canucks’ captain and most impactful player practised with teammates here Monday for the first time since leaving the lineup with a rib injury two weeks ago. He is dying to play tonight, which was possible until a “48-hour virus” confined him to his hotel room most of the weekend.
Luongo suffered a rib injury one game before the Wings shelled him for five on October 27th. Luongo rushed back from an injured groin nearly a year ago and ended up doubling his time spent on the sidelines.
I also found this little tidbit funny about one of Detroit’s favorte “sharpshooters”, Mikael “William Tell” Samuelsson…
He went in goal and didn’t budge, even when hit on the collar by Mikael Samuelsson’s shot. Minor-league call up Cory Schneider did not get into a single drill.
Well…at least Sammy was hitting the net, right? Good on Roberto for not throwing a hissy fit like some goalies would do…I always hate that. Regardless, it may be better to play against a Luongo playing in his first game back and be the team that knocks the cobwebs off of him. Andrew Raycroft who has stepped in for Luongo currently is tops in the NHL with a 1.60 GAA.
Never forget: the Detroit Red Wings could have won the Luongo lottery when he wanted out of Florida…but you would have had to see #13 Pavel Datsyuk in a Panthers jersey to see that…**shudders**
