From the Grand Rapids Griffins corner of mLive…
I posted a quote last week about Kindl not being able to get any sleep because of his excitement to make his NHL debut. Well, now that he has been sent back down to GR, we get a chance to hear what he had to say about it.
About being on the first powerplay unit:
“I was only out there once and I don’t think I touched the puck. But still, it felt really good when the coach trusts you and puts you out there with Nicklas Lidstrom, Homer in the front, and Pav with Z.”
On his trip to the Big Apple:
“I’ve never been in a city like that before in my life. I went up the Empire State building, which was amazing. I saw the whole city, it was incredible.”
On being sent back down:
“I knew I was going to get sent down once Rafalski was back on track, but it feels good. I played two NHL games and there are guys still waiting for this opportunity. Now I can say I played in the NHL.”
Sounds like the kid is keeping it all in perspective, which is good. We should all expect to see more of #46 should another D-man go down (God forbid). But the 6’3 200+lbs will be a regular starting next year and should be a mainstay for years to come.
